How it all started...
Gospel Ark Temple, was founded and established on June 22, 1947, by Elder Quincy Lowe. After worshipping untiringly under a tent with other faithful believers, Elder Lowe constructed the “Church in the ground” pictured right and served as pastor until 1957. Following Elder Lowe, Elder John Randall filled the gap until the arrival of our new pastor.
In September of 1958 Elder Fred Bridges Sr. became our leader. He worked effortlessly to organize the ministry, and as a result we marched into our new edifice in March of 1967. Pastor Bridges served faithfully until he transitioned from labor to reward in November of 1974. But God in His faithfulness, did not leave His sheep without a shepherd.
On January 5, 1975, He graced us with Elder John Lamb, who pastored God’s people joyfully until his elevation July, 7 1994. However, before retiring us, we richly prospered under his leadership and held our mortgage burning ceremony on January 9, 1983. We also broke ground to expand our facility in 1987. Under his tutelage, several sons in ministry were produced.
In continuing fashion, God made provision for us through the distinguished life of Bishop Joseph Showell. Bishop Showell, an excellent leader “a man of great vision” and powerful teaching, was installed as pastor February 1994 until his retirement in 2014.
God’s plan for us continues! On February 14, 2016, Bishop Floyd E. Nelson Jr. began his new assignment in leading Gospel Ark Temple. His innovative and dynamic leadership has shifted the ministry higher. Today, we continue to be a beacon of light, hope, love, and deliverance.
